Rotherham Reviewing Cumulative Impact Policy

24 Feb
2023

Rotherham’s Wickersley Cumulative Impact Policy, adopted by the full Council on 3rd June 2020 is now approaching its third anniversary. The Rotherham Policy is unusual in that Rotherham’s town centre, which is the largest urban centre within the borough, is not subject to the policy.  Instead, the policy focuses on the popular Wickersley area with a relatively small number premises.

In accordance with the legislation, the Policy must now be reviewed.  Any cumulative impact assessment must be reviewed every three years as a minimum, any review must be consulted upon and any revisions must be published alongside an evidence base.

Rotherham has confirmed that a three-month consultation window will open shortly inviting views from local businesses and other stakeholders.

Over the three year period of the policy applications for new premises and variation have been considered by the Licensing Authority and granted by the Committee suggesting that responsible developments are entertained.
